The Society for Global Nineteenth-Century Studies is thrilled to be able to offer a £300 bursary to one early career researcher to attend our 2025 World Congress in Kuwait (16-19 January). This generous award is being provided by Liverpool University Press, our publishing partner, to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Please send a short statement, consisting of one or two paragraphs, introducing yourself (career stage, institutional affiliation, research specialisms); explaining what, if any, other funding you have available (and whether your attendance at the congress depends solely on the award); and how attending the congress will further your research agenda. Anyone within 8 years of receiving their doctorate is eligible. (Those with a career break should note this in their statement.) The recipient will be expected to write a short report about the congress for an SGNCS publication.
Those who have already submitted an abstract are welcome to apply. Those who have not should submit an abstract as well as a statement.
